EXCRETION

The main excretory organs of the insect are the Malpighian tubes. These tubes float in the insect's body cavity, (in the insect's blood) and remove waste products from the blood. The tubes transfer this waste to the insect's digestive system, connecting where the midgut and hindgut join. The wastes are then eliminated along with digestive wastes through the anus. The primary waste product of most insects is Uric Acid. Uric Acid serves as a means for the insect to get rid of its nitrogenous wastes. The insect's use of Uric acid instead of urea is a tradoff: Uric Acid requires more energy to make than urea, but it is also less water soluable so the insect saves water.
